I’m going to mention right from the start that this is a very different kind of software than the other products reviewed. PC Pandora is basically spyware that you control in order to monitor everything that happens on your computer. PC Pandora does not try to prevent your kids from viewing objectionable materials onlline, but instead lets you know what they are doing at all times by logging keystrokes and taking snapshots of their screens every few seconds.
The Good: For what it does you would think PC Pandora would slow down your computer to unusable speeds, but this is not the case. Although I did notice some slowing I did not find that PC Pandora was in any way inhibiting to my normal usage. PC Pandora succeeds in doing exactly what it says it does: spies on everything your computer is doing. The screen-shots it takes are high enough quality to let you know exactly what was being done or typed. I did not use the secret mode of PC Pandora so I could find it in the start menu and on the start bar. What I could not do was turn it off and I could not even find it listed on Windows task manager to try to disable it. PC Pandora can be modified in a lot of ways. You can choose to not spy on certain programs, for example.
One of the things I really liked was that you can actually disable programs through PC Pandora so you can, for example, cause a bittorrent program like utorrent from even being able to start. Or if you want to ground your kids from
World of Warcraft for a while, just disable it. Now you don’t have to worry about them sneaking on AND you don’t have to completely uninstall the program only to reinstall it later. PC Pandora also has fantastic reports. It lets you know what programs have been used and for how long. It lets you know what websites have been visited, how long, and how often. It tells you details of the searches that have been made on your browser to let you know if your kids are searching for inappropriate content intentionally. There’s probably a lot more good here that I’m forgetting, but I should move on.

The Bad: As stated above, PC Pandora in no way protects your kids from getting to an inappropriate website in the first place. This is really the worst aspect about this product and makes me think that I would almost hav
My overall opinion of PC Pandora is that the software should be used, especially in cases where kids have betrayed parents’ trust online. If Iwere faced with this circumstance I’d probably take away my kids’ computer and put PC Pandora on mine just to be certain. It seems that ultimate protection could be achieved by using PC Pandora in conjunction with Net Nanny so you get awesome prevention along with amazing monitoring and the ability to disable programs. ome people may take exception to the idea of spying on everything their kids do online and I could certainly understand that. Considering how unsafe the internet has become for kids in recent years, though, I think making their online activity “public” might be the best protection possible.
